I had someone specific in mind with this one. A person whom I've known for years who kept throwing his life away. I think we all have some one like this in our lives. The idea for the song just came one day and I had the chorus but no verses. I shelved it for awhile until I got together with my friend Steve Marinaccio from Green Chapel Studios. Within an hour we had two pretty good verses that reflected the story I wanted to tell. A couple of days later I wrote the bridge and we had a complete song. Chris Hedges beautiful slide guitar on this really brought it all together.
